Podcasts Wrapped Up

The final podcast due date has come and gone, and of the 2 that I've listened to, I'd have to say that there's been quite an improvement over the first one. That's encouraging. Except, that is, for one of my new students. He's still trying to finish his 1st one...3 weeks after the due date. Not good. It doesn't help that his reading grade level is 1.5, and he's in gr. 6. Ouch.

Chris, I can sympathize! My kids are supposed to know at least 110 words before the end of the year, and some of my kids, including my new little guy, know about six. That may be the least of his problems though. He's been bouncing from one side of the room to the other since he started on Thursday, after being placed in foster care with his five siblings. The things you see as a teacher - which are out of your control - are scary sometimes!

Chris,
I was impressed with your students’ oral expression and the way they echoed the mood of the passage with their music choice. Did you spend a lot of time talking about author’s tone and mood as a precursor to the recording of the podcasts?
